Get a Room

Call it retrograde if you will, but I think Chatzilla is gr8.

Lightweight and secure, DCC will be around awhile.

I can't do hacker. I get YMMV and K?, but after that, I'm lost. Care to provide translation services for the uninitiated?

I'm still working on IRC in the corporate environment and having a tad of difficulty with the concept. The language barrier is one impediment. I'm sure you can think of others...

BWTHDIK = But what the heck do I know.

CMWYGAM = Call me when you get a minute.

WNRTRSP = We now return to regularly scheduled programming.

It's not a requirement to tap out abbrevs like a complete dork, but so many people do, I find it a bit contagious. Oftimes the conversations move so manically, and between so many participants, shorthand can become a necessity for comprehension alone, if not self expression.

Bottom line: this stuff is ultra informal, built for speed and ease of use. Is there a time and place for that in office environments? Occasionally.

My impetus for posting on this topic was today's earlier (extra-IRC) conversations involving file transfer - and the increasing barriers to it.

The online lingo translators only has BWTHDIK, besides the obvious ones. The other two were knew to me as well. You should submit them to the translators....
